We’ve been honoring some of our favorite heroes for Nurses Week and today we are back with another great rail. Today, I’m showing you how to paint a scrub life wreath rail that is perfect for nurses or any other genre of healthcare worker!
If we sat down with pen and paper and tried to make a complete list of all the professions that wear scrubs I’m pretty sure we would fail. There are so many amazing people that work in scrubs! Their specialties cover an enormous spread but they all have one thing in common: they have dedicated their lives to caring for others. The other thing they have in common is that they have been faced with intense challenges during this crazy time. We raise our glasses to all of the people living the scrub life and offer our most sincere thanks! In the video below I show you how to paint a scrub life wreath rail that is dedicated to all of the heroes in scrubs.
How to Paint a Scrub Life Wreath Rail
This year has been a trying one for all of us but I am hopeful that the light at the end of the tunnel is nearing. Throughout we have been looking for light, love, and hope wherever we can. I have often been reminded of what Mr. Roger told us to do when things are scary. He said to always look for the helpers. No matter how scary things are you will always find people who are ready to help. Depending on the circumstances, these people will come from different places and be doing different things. But, chances are, many of them will be wearing scrubs. We know that has been especially true in recent times.
Because of the dedication our scrub wearing heroes have shown during this intense time, the demand for items that celebrate them has been super high. I wanted to make sure to share this design with you so that you can honor a loved one for their hard work and sacrifice or be able to offer these items in your shop. Many customers are wanting to give gifts to their favorite healthcare workers and this is the perfect option!
The Finishing Touches
Once you’ve painted your wreath rail there are a few steps left to do. You always have the option to add glitter anywhere and everywhere if you want to. We definitely suggest that you seal your painted rail with a clear sealant. That way, if you or your customers hang the rail on an outside door, you won’t have to worry about the elements. The last thing to do is add the decorations to your rail! Deco mesh, ribbon, and tubing are my favorite things to add but you can use whatever you want. How cute would this be if you found little healthcare pics and embellishments? I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with for this one!
Teal (Laguna) acrylic paint
Magenta acrylic paint
Purple (Velvet Crush) acrylic paint
White acrylic paint
Black acrylic paint
Paint by Line Instructions
Start by using the teal to paint the scrub shirt and the separate parts of the medicine bottle except for the label.
Next, use the magenta to paint the label on the medicine bottle.
Now use the purple to paint in all the letters. You will need two coats.
Use the white paint to add detail to the medicine bottle and fill in the cross on it.
Next, use the black paint to outline the letters, medicine bottle, and scrub shirt.
That’s it friends! I kept this nice and simple for you. Of course you can change things up or make them more complicated if you’re feeling froggy! You can use any color combos that you want and add more details if you like. Scrub colors and patterns are as varied as the people who wear them so let your creative juices flow!
